Researchers at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) have demonstrated an association between natural variations in sexual preference and brain structure… in sheep (published in 2004.02 issue of Endocrinology). "It demonstrates that not only are certain groups of cells different between genders in a part of the sheep brain controlling sexual behavior, but brain anatomy and hormone production may determine whether adult rams prefer other rams over ewes."
[Note: "may determine" is not "determines." Indeed, neuroscientists, have demonstrated brain plasticity, disproving this logical blooper by OHSU researchers.]
"’This particular study, along with others, strongly suggests that sexual preference is biologically determined in animals, and possibly in humans,’ said the study’s lead author, Prof. Charles Roselli of the Dept. of Physiology and Pharmacology in the OHSU School of Medicine." The marker is found in the hypothalamus.
[Note: Another logical blooper by OHSU researchers. Their evidence suggests a link; but the assumption that succession implies cause is a well-known logical fallacy: post hoc (ergo propter hoc). Again, neuroscientists, have demonstrated brain plasticity, disproving this logical blooper by OHSU researchers.]
Just as there are environmental factors that contribute to higher incidences of diabetes, obesity and the like, studies should be conducted to learn if there is an historical association between hedonistic, self-absorbed and self-gratifying populations in peaked and deteriorating cultures and incidences of homosexuality. Perhaps societies, in their willingness to embrace depravity (recall Rome in decline), actually cause an epidemic of homosexuality. The thought that homosexuality might one day be medically curable, however, is negated by the homosexual’s unwillingness to be cured. A society and culture finding itself spiraling downward, however, might still be able to right itself, perhaps thereafter reverting to a "normal" proportion of homosexuals in its population.
